Vernissage/exhibition opening on 15 February 2024, 6-9 pm
Pre-opening concert by Anla Courtis & Lasse Marhaug, in tribute to Phill Niblock (1933-2024), at Cappelens Forslag, Bernt Ankers gate 4B, Oslo on 14 February 2024 at 9 pm.

Reynols are an Argentinian cult band that began in 1993 in Buenos Aires. Their musical diversity spans everything from cosmic free rock, lo-fi drone and electronic music to conceptual sound art and socio-political observations. They consist of Roberto Conlazo, Anla Courtis and the drummer Miguel Tomasin, who has Down syndrome and is the moving force and “spiritual architect” of the band.
The fact that Reynols include a member with special needs is not accidental, as in reality the trajectory of the band in musical experimentation is driven by the vast freedom of Tomasin’s mind, thus giving a provocative and singular character to the group. They were the first Latin American band ever to appear on the cover of the British music magazine The Wire, and The New York Times published a full-page article about them.
“Clorma Samle Monesia” is the first Reynols exhibition ever to be shown in Norway and it presents a range of archival documentation including gig posters, press clippings, photos, xerox-art, records, tapes, objects, scores, conceptual pieces, video and audio spanning their entire career. This careful selection gives a glimpse into the unique and esoteric discography they have amassed. The exhibition will also feature a special section dedicated to Reynols in Norway.
Reynols have worked with an open-process DIY philosophy and been subject to multiple documentaries and books, and remarkably appearing on more than 150 albums released by worldwide labels, touring the USA and Europe, as well as collaborating with artists such as Pauline Oliveros, Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Damo Suzuki (Can), Acid Mothers Temple, The Nihilist Spasm Band, Michael Snow, Jazzkammer, Rambutan, Hornorkesteret, DNA? AND? + N. U. Unruh (Einstürzende Neubauten) and more.
Through the archival material, we look to present the work of a band that has consistently striven to create free music in the purest sense. Embracing a DIY energy in all matters, their huge archive of material documents a band whose approach to creativity is singular in its expressiveness. Throughout their existence, they have advocated for inclusion, looking to make music accessible to people of all abilities, whether that be through workshops or collaborations, describing music itself as a fundamental civil right. Reynols live in their own universe, away from the boundaries of music genres, with their art concepts being totally unique and original.
A special pre-opening concert by Anla Courtis & Lasse Marhaug, in tribute to Phill Niblock (1933-2024), will take place at Cappelens Forslag, Bernt Ankers gate 4B, Oslo on 14 February 2024 at 9 pm.
There will be a live performance by Oslo based improv collective DNA? AND? featuring Reynols member Anla Courtis on 17 February at 3 pm, and live remixes of Reynols’ music by various Norwegian artists during the exhibition period, starting with Alexander Rishaug on 16 February, with more to be announced.
The gallery shop will include art objects made by Reynols, exhibition catalogue, exclusive silk screened t-shirts and tote bags, and of course records, including the collaborative effort Seele Brennt by DNA? AND? + N. U. Unruh + Reynols, and a reissue of Reynols’ 2020 album Gona Rubian Ranesa, both released on CD by Sanntidsmusikk in conjunction with the exhibition.
This Norwegian version of the exhibition is curated by Anla Courtis, Petter Flaten Eilertsen and Lasse Marhaug, with invaluable assistance by Mark Steiner (Schaeffers gate 5), Harald Fetveit, Bjørn Hatterud and Tom Helge Kleberg.
